Future poster

Hi again!

So this was another assignment where we had to design a poster for a festival. I chose the Future music festival because a lot of their posters are pretty fun. I tried to make mine fun also.

I used photoshop and my new Wacom tablet for this

A Poster I designed for TROPFEST - the short film festival. I sketched the outline and painted it using photoshop. It was a branding assignment for a festival of our choice. Mmm festival

How to become a tattooist

Here is something that has probably taken me longer than anything else I've ever done. It's another assignment we had to complete based on subcultures, mine was tattooing and the subject was a friend of mine who is a tattooist. The artwork is a representation of his journey.  It was sketched with pencil and then coloured in photoshop. It was very painful to do. That's it.

Sepia Dog

And this is a sketch I did of a dog.. just incase you couldn't tell. It was done about 5 years ago. Just used pencil and then edited in photoshop.

Things

The exercise was to render 2 artworks, each showing 5 or more things that relate to me. The black and white was a rendition of my fears, the one in colour is more a description of what I'm like I guess. The robot's in there because I feel like a robot at work. My cat is on that rocket because she's always trying to go outside .. I guess you can figure out what the rest means. I used acrylic and ink incase you were wondering.
Bye

Typography

So I started studying Graphic Design last month and I'm having a pretty good time doing it. I studied when I was 18, right out of school, which in my opinion is not a good age to be in control of what you want to do with the rest of your life! Anyway I suppose some people are more mature than others at that time, definitely not me.

I'll start posting some stuff that I've been doing. So far this is a typography assignment we had to do. The brief was to produce 3 portraits out of text. I tried pretty hard to make them recognisable.

My Marilyn

It was meant to be a caricature of Marilyn Monroe, but i don't think I've seen a picture of Marilyn with a martini. I'm sure she's had one though... I just used pencil for this.

Sketch-a-lion

A friend of mine requested this. Another sketch from my sketch book.

Leprechaun

Some more stuff from my sketchbook.. here's my leprechaun!

Sketch-a-face

A sketch from my sketch book. She's meant to look dramatic but her eyes are kind of warped.

Christmas Card

A swirly tree Christmas card I made in 2007

Headless Ballerina

My headless ballerina and her confused pet rabbit.

Wormer

Wormer.

He didn't belong anywhere, I wasn't sure what to do with him so he lives here now. He says he couldn't be happier.

Bad to worse version 1.0

Here is my first attempt it was done in 2005. It's ok not to like this.

Bad to worse version 1.1

A book illustration. There's water leaking through the wall so she uses a fish bowl to catch the drops. When she opens the door her day gets worse because she's faced with a mystical ocean.. ooo mystical!

I did this about a month ago. It was an idea I first illustrated 4 years ago, although the first one was such a half-arsed attempt I thought the idea deserved another try. This one is my upgrade, I'll post the original next.

Birthday Invite

So my first picture is an invitation I made for my birthday party. I thought it would help convince my guests to come..

We spent the day at the races betting on horses and I won $8, so it was pretty much an awesome birthday.
